Popular custom flag sizes
The right size depends on where your flag will be seen and how far away people will be reading it. As a rule of thumb, the bigger the space and the further the viewing distance, the larger you want to go.
- 5ft x 3ft (150 x 90cm) is our most popular size and the classic "terrace flag". It's big enough to read your text and design clearly from across a stand or garden, but still easy for one or two people to hold up.
- Smaller and handheld sizes are great for waving on match day, for kids, or when you want something easy to carry and pack.
- Large, statement sizes are perfect for group displays, fundraisers and big occasions where you want maximum impact.
If you're stuck between two sizes, it's almost always better to size up. A flag that's a little bigger reads far better from a distance than one that's slightly too small.
115gsm vs 210gsm: which material should you choose?
Every flag is printed here in the UK, but you can choose between two weights of material depending on how you'll use it:
- Lightweight (115gsm) is brilliant for handheld and indoor use. It's easy to wave, packs down small, and the colours really pop. Ideal for match days, parties and events.
- Heavyweight (210gsm) is a thicker, more durable material that stands up better to wind and repeated outdoor use. Choose this if your flag will live outside or be flown regularly.
